Storm Brewing Black Plague Stout - Somewhere in Canada, can't remember.
The first look at this brew makes you wonder "just how dark can a beer be"??? Black Plague Stout is about as dark as I've ever seen. The light 1/2" head on the pint was soft and smooth, like a nice cream on a shot of espresso. The nose had a warm scent to it but lightly smoked. My first taste I was pleasantly overwhelmed by a sultry thickness. I mean thick like Mr. T. This wasn't a pint of Guinness that was meant to be drunk leaving six rings on the side of the glass. Oh no. This was a thick, glacial paced drink. The flavors inside this pint are hard to describe. There was no bitterness, no awkward after taste, just polite velvety pleasure. Kind of like laying down on a new, full sized, full grain leather couch.

I have no idea what the AC % is, but it seems to have a nice little sumpin' sumpin' to it. And it goes well with the eggs benedict at The Whip in Vancouver, BC. Stop in if you get a chance, near 4th and Main.

Humble Patience Magic Hat Humble Patience - Burlington, VT
Irish Reds can be a bit bland, but Humble Patience offers up a tasty flavor profile. The slightly roasty taste sets it apart from the others. Malty like most reds, theres a hint of bitterness that keeps things interesting and balanced. It pours with a deep red color, very clear and topped off with a half-inch tan head. After a few, you might even want to shout out some bloody old school U2 (pre-wanker stuff) in honor of the beer's heritage.

Stella Artois
Stella Artois Pilsner - Belgium
Stella Artois is a big corporate Goliath when it comes to Belgian beers, but with several hundred years of credentials, it manages to still brew a decent beer. This pilsner comes out crystal clear and golden. A small white head tops it off. First impression is a tingling on the tongue. Its crisp, slightly sharp and leaves a bit of bitterness behind. Well suited for a hot summer day, grilling out or mowing the lawn. There's nothing outstanding about this beer, yet there is nothing you can complain about either. This is a mass-produced beer, so if you are looking for something with a bit of character that sets it apart, look elsewhere.
