FeedbackSince this is the first issue, we don't have any letters to respond to. So, we dug through the MTBR SS board archives and decided to address a couple of postings that question this whole SS thing. Spelling, punctuation and bad grammar were left intact.Send us feedback - the good, the bad, the ugly - and it might end up here. We want to hear from you. riderx@singlespeedoutlaw.com
"I dont understand" One speeds are not a phenomenom. Technically the've been around longer than any other type of bike. Besides, we're not slaves to Shitmano and mandatory drivetrain upgrades. Sure singles are for tooling aroung town - and hammering singletrack, commuting, messengering and anything else where you want have a fun, virtually maintenance free rig. Can't imagine riding some of your terrain with a single? Think back to when you started riding and a particularly big hill or tough section whipped your ass. You were probably thinking "If anybody can do that, I'd sure like to see it". And then one day you cleaned it. Now, you can't imagine that it was ever an issue to ride it. Same thing with a single. One piece of advice don't cut English class and buy a dictionary.
"Singlespeeds are too stupid to have thier own forum!!!" So, you are basically saying if something is foolish it shouldn't exist? I think you are foolish for being so closed minded and ignorant. Using your own logic Bob, let's take you out of existance. If you don't know what the fun is in single speed you probably haven't tried it or you realize you are such a weak cyclist you would be shown to be a bigger chump on the trails than you already are and would be walking up the hills. I suspect you are a trail shuttler anyway. Just a guess. Boy your predictions of the MTBR SS forum sure held out. It's been up over a year. Boring, nobody posts, I can't believe they haven't shut it down yet. Luckily, no one is forcing you to read it. By the way, see advice above.
"OK, I'll bite. Enlighten me." Well Wolfman, you at least seem to have somewhat of an open mind. I'm sure they were saying MTB was a fad back in the day, but it hasn't gone anywhere but up. I'm not saying SS sales are going to overtake other bike sales the way MTB did, but there are quite a few companies making a living off of this SS thing who have been around a few years and seem to be doing OK. People said the automobile would be a fad and never be as popular as bikes (if only that were true), so you never no what is going to happen. If you want to be enlightened and continue broadening your horizons, borrow a single speed and you will probably be a convert.
"Good Work" Uh - yeah, thanks. (We made this one up to end on a positive note.) |
