Seems I've been neglecting this place, not out of choice but simply out of time. Bike advocacy has been consuming more time than usual and this place has been a victim. I have been making time to ride, so no worries there. Spent a great weekend with my wife and friends in Douthat State Park in Virginia. If you haven't been there, I highly recommend it. It's called Disneyland for mountain bikers for a reason. Prior to that, a few of us went down to the Fort Valley area of Virginia to tackle a new section of ridge we hadn't ridden. Tough and beautiful as always down there.
Locally we be getting prime riding in here in Frederick and we are slowly moving our phase II trail project forward. And speaking of Frederick, the Frederick Bicycle Coalition, our newly formed local advocacy group is conducting a survey on bicycle usage. So if you ride in Frederick, whether it's mountain, road, commuting or touring, take 5 minutes to help us out and fill out this survey. FBC will also be working with the City of Frederick to put on some beginner mountain bike classes, so if you know someone who wants to get into the sport, check it out.
